Planting & Watering The Seeds

A farmhouse style table, with the wood grain and knots exposed. Below it’s support by two sets of iron sewing treadle bases.

It’s here where nutrition, eating, whole foods and even more importantly the memories begin.

It’s here where the phrase “remember when…” gets used often, it’s here we’d talk about our days, plans and dreams. It’s here where I’d absorb their words, because to me it was more than that, it was wisdom.

The kitchen table in my family home will always have a special place in my heart because of this. When I think of food, meals, nutrition and self-care, for me it all starts here.

My Story

Hello, my name is Erin Abraham!

I’m the voice, smoothie blending, farmer’s market shopping gal and Wellprenuer behind Nourished Root.

If we were to connect in person, I’d imagine we’d do it over a cup of tea around a table or while preparing a yummy meal in the kitchen together, maybe something like a Buddha Bowl filled with vibrant beets and roasted chickpeas.

I was raised on a hobby farm in rural ontario and aside from some short stints in the city, I’m back where I belong, in the country of course. You can usually find me out hiking in the bush with my dog Lyla, getting my hands dirty in the garden or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.

For as long as I can remember mental health has always been a grey cloud hovering over my world leading to a life filled with constant exhaustion and struggle where I was told allopathic medicine was the only solution. In my early 20s I was struggling with severe depression, anxiety and stress along with strong emotions of anger and I had enough. There was still a lot that felt unknown for me and the busyness and craziness of life was bringing me down. I knew that my current environment, how I was caring for myself and my body could have been better and the primary, direct link that was fueling my mental instability. I then started to get really curious about finding a way to nourish a vibrant, balanced life. That day I dug deep down, looked inside and searched for the happiest moment of my childhood and there I found myself in the kitchen with my family cooking a vibrant, traditional nourishing meal.

My Story

My Approach

I know firsthand the experience of feeling lost and not knowing where to start. I also know how intimidating and overwhelming nutrition, meal planning and cooking can be. I know healthy eating doesn’t come easy to everyone (myself included). What I want people to know most about me, is that I’m here to listen and help you along your journey to health. Consider me your Wellness Sidekick.

Together, let’s get back to whole foods, making our own food and growing those memories around the wood grain table.

My Approach

Certified Instructor of the Academy of Culinary Nutrition

I'm a Certified Culinary Expert and Instructor of the Academy of Culinary Nutrition.

So, what does that mean? It mean's I have a Professional Certification in Culinary Nutrition that allow's me to live what I've learned and lead the ways for others to do the same.

In 2014, I embarked on my culinary journey, with no prior professional culinary skills. Boy, was I nervous! The program taught me practical everyday, natural cooking skills and gave me a deeper exploration into the therapeutic properties of the foods we eat, and how we prepare them.

Now as a Certified Instructor of the Academy of Culinary Nutrition, I can help you do the same by sharing my knowledge in an applied, practical way so that you can live what you learn, eat what you make and lead the way to vibrant living.
