Gracious Living DIY Hair Masks-Beauty

Ditch the unnecessary expensive treatments plus the toxins and chemicals found in commercial hair products and look to your kitchen for the BEST natural conditioners to moisturize and revitalize your hair! Your home cupboards hold the key to keeping your tresses naturally gorgeous.  Here are some different ideas to play with:

1) Avocado Mask for Soft Hair:

  1. 1 very soft avocado

  2. 2 tablespoons liquid honey

Cut and scoop out the flesh from a ripened avocado and mix in a tablespoon of organic honey. Apply to hair and allow it to sit for 20 minutes before rinsing it off in the shower. Avocados are super moisturizing containing Vitamin E and protein and make your hair silky soft, while the honey acts as an anti-bacterial agent.

2) A Nourishing Mask for Silk ‘n’ Shine:

  1. 2 tablespoons liquid honey

  2. 1 tablespoon olive oil / or almond oil

  3. 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Mix up all your ingredients.  Apply mask to dry, dirty hair. Comb through with a wide-tooth comb or your fingers. Pin up your hair for 30 minutes to an hour. Shampoo and condition as normal.

3) Coconut Oil Hair Treatment (for all hair types, including fine hair and people with oily scalps)

Slather extra virgin coconut oil on ends of hair, being careful to avoid the roots if you have oily hair. You can either leave this in overnight or wrap with a warm towel or put under a shower cap for 30 minutes to an hour.  Rinse out and wash hair as normal.  You can repeat this treatment every two weeks for normal hair, up to weekly for dry, damaged, or color-treated hair.

**Make sure you are eating a nutrient dense, balanced diet as well. Our hair reflects the quality of the food we ingest! Imbalanced eating like not enough calories, healthy fats, and/or protein can lead to dull, lifeless hair or even dandruff.
