So about a year ago, when I was living in a remote fishing & surfing village in Nicaragua, and doing some reading online, I found a great article on the web about guy, Doug McNish, who turned his life around from Toronto partier to vegan chef. His change in diet had monumental effects on his health. I related with this guy because I share the exact same experiences with raw food. Raw food has helped heal me physically, emotionally, and spiritually in such a profound way that I went from Toronto party girl to holistic nutritionist. (I also wondered if I had ever partied with him way back in the day in Toronto, too!) Then 6 months later, at the Toronto Vegetarian Festival last year, I actually had the privilege to see this same man I read about online, do a live presentation showcasing one of his brilliant creations. I was like “hey, that was the dude I was reading about!”, as he turned beets into a creamy, raw, vegan, delicious ravioli. Luckily I got to meet him after and now another 6 months later, my Gracious Living Carrot Cake Smoothie is printed right beside his article & recipe in a special edition of Sweat Equity Magazine! How cool is that! Check it out on page 25!
